Hirst & Greene

Rob Hirst and Paul Greene have each already represented Australia at the
highest level - Rob as a founding member of internationally respected
Midnight Oil, and Paul Greene as an athlete in Australia's team for the 1996
Olympics and 1998 Commonwealth Games. In fact, Rob and Paul met in 1999 when
Rob was co producing an "Olympic Record" - a CD of original compositions
that united athletes and musicians, and was released to coincide with the
Sydney Games the following year.

Rob and Paul's similarly positive personalities and musical chemistry drew
them into a longer relationship that is now bearing fruit. Rob's mid-range,
slightly weathered tones complement Paul's soaring, crystal-clear delivery,
and it is the blending of these two distinctive voices - along with their
emotive song writing - that is at the heart of their debut recording ('In
the Stealth of Summer' - released on ABC's 'Roots Music Label', March,
2005).

On stage it's sparkling musicianship and relaxed banter - personal/universal
themes delivered with humour. Rob's voice, 6-string acoustic and stomp box
join forces with Paul's voice, 12-string acoustic and harmonica to stimulate
any audience and fill any room.

The Dead Marines are a new Sydney-based band, featuring three of Australia's
most regarded contemporary artists - singer/songwriter Bernie Hayes, Front
End Loader's, Bow Campbell and Brendan Gallagher of Karma County. These long
time friends and compelling performers have come together to record "New
Day" an album of original songs, tales of love and loss and the dear school
of experience refracted through the prism of a wine bottle or three.

>From the rich vocal harmonies of Everybody Wants To Hurt Somebody Sometime
to the rawness of Six Pack Love Letter, and the soothing jazz sounds of I
Couldn't Be Less Cool the Dead Marines deliver an acoustic album of songs
that are open, honest and warm. "New Day" out now thru Vitamin

"Shortly after receiving his promotion to rear admiral in 1790, William IV,
known as the 'Sailor King', was at dinner on board one of his fleet's ships.
He ordered the steward to remove the 'dead marines' to make room for new
bottles. A marine officer at the table complained. His Highness responded
that no offence was intended. The expression was used in the sense "...that,
like marines, the bottle had given its life nobly and, given the chance,
would do it again."
